How to use ChatGPT for asking for reviews

Short answerGet your Google review link once, then have ChatGPT write a short, warm ask you send by text right after the job, plus one reminder a week later. Keep it open-ended and send the exact same message to every customer. Do not gate for happy customers or offer anything for a review, both break Google's rules.

How to do it

1

Get your Google review link first

Go to your Business Profile at business.google.com, choose Read reviews, then Get more reviews, and copy the link. You can save the QR code there too, but only from a computer browser, not your phone. ChatGPT cannot make this link for you; it has to come from your own profile.

2

Have ChatGPT write a short text, not an essay

Ask for a review request under 40 words for SMS: thank them by name, one line asking for an honest Google review if they were happy, and the link. Short wins. A two-paragraph email gets skimmed; a one-line text gets tapped.

3

Send it right after the job

For service work the best moment is immediately after you finish, within 24 hours. That is when they are happiest and the work is fresh. ChatGPT can draft it; you send it while you are still in the driveway.

4

Add one reminder, then stop

Most people mean to leave a review and forget. One reminder about a week later recovers a lot of them. Two total touches per customer is the ceiling. Have ChatGPT write the reminder softer than the first: 'no worries if you have been busy.'

5

Keep it open-ended and send it to everyone

Google bans review gating, only asking customers who seem happy. Send the same request to every customer. Also do not ask them to mention staff names, keywords, or a star count. Tell ChatGPT to keep the wording neutral and honest, or you risk your reviews getting flagged.

6

Never offer anything for a review

Discounts, gift cards, or perks in exchange for a review violate Google policy and can get reviews removed or your profile penalized. Make sure nothing ChatGPT writes hints at a reward. The ask is a favor, not a trade.

Common questions

What's the best time to ask?

For service work, right after you finish, within 24 hours. That is when response rates are highest because the customer is happiest and the job is fresh.

Text or email?

Text usually wins for service businesses because it gets opened and tapped fast. Email works too. Pick one and use it the same way for everyone.

Can I offer a discount for a review?

No. Google prohibits incentives for reviews and can remove reviews or penalize your profile. Ask as a favor, never as a trade.

Can ChatGPT post or send the review request for me?

No. It writes the message. You send it, and the customer writes the review on Google. Automating the send after every job is a build, not a prompt.
